Studied Information Studies and Film Studies at Charles University and started his career as a journalist in 1992, writing for daily newspapers as well as specialized film magazines. A founding member of the new programming team of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) from 1994 to 1998. From 1996 on, he worked in various programming positions for the leading Czech terrestrial TV station, TV Nova, and its content acquisitions arm, AQS, where he initiated the Magic Box, its home-entertainment division, and the Bioscop film distribution company; both are still in operation. He became HBO’s Country Manager for the Czech and Slovak Republics in 2006 and the Senior Vice President of Programming and Acquisitions for all of HBO’s regional channels in Central Europe in 2008, contributing to the launch of its Central European original production project. Documentary films and feature series resulting from the HBO CE original production project have achieved a significant level of festival and international recognition; the theater distribution version of the Burning Bush historical mini-series produced by HBO Czech received an unprecedented 11 Czech Film Academy Awards, including the Best Film Award, in 2013. He worked as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of HBO Europe for the central European region from 2015 to 2017. Since October 2017 he has been the Head of Famu International and the Vice-Dean of FAMU for International Relations.
