Ondřej Zach is the newly appointed head of FAMU International

New head of department will start running his office during the second half of September, replacing recent head of department Giovanni Robbiano, who will remain at FAMU as teacher on international programmes. Ondřej Zach previously worked at HBO Europe as the Chief Operating Officer and steered HBO’s organisations in nine territories of Central Europe.

Ondřej Zach (1969) will newly be in charge of planning the development of FAMU Departments’ international programmes, the new structure and planning of study programmes for the 2018/2019 academic year, preparing the strategy for exchange programmes such as ERASMUS and planning FAMU communication and promotion abroad.

Zdeněk Holý, Dean of FAMU, appreciates Ondřej Zach’s arrival: “Ondřej Zach is an executive with a wealth of managerial experience in the audiovisual industry. I appreciate his detailed knowledge of the television and film industry in the Czech Republic, Europe and worldwide with a special emphasis on contemporary television productions. I see his arrival at FAMU as a major boost for of our school’s human resources.” Commenting on his new position as the Head of FAMU International, Ondřej Zach says: “Our long-term ambition should be ensuring that FAMU is automatically among the educational institutions of first choice for any aspiring filmmaker in Europe.“

In addition to his managerial position at HBO Europe, Ondřej Zach was responsible for the production of two successful Czech TV shows, Burning Bush and Wasteland. He previously worked at TV Nova as the Head of Program Acquisitions. He worked as the deputy of the Karlovy Vary IFF Programming Director between 1994 and 1997. While still a student of Film History and Theory at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, he contributed to Lidové noviny, Film a doba and Cinema.
