Beth Lazroe has been working as a professional photographer exhibiting since the mid-1970s, and lecturing at FAMU since 1995. She has taught photography and visual theory/communication at several universities, including Dublin City University (also serving as Temporary Head of Photography there), and has been Professor of Visual Communication at the University of New York in Prague (UNYP) since 2001. 

She holds a Master’s degree from FAMU, Czech Republic and a certificate in teaching English as a foreign language to adults from the University of Cambridge. She is the author of the text book, Photography as Visual Communication, published by AMU. 
She began her photographic career at Contrejour, Paris and became a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ireland and Great Britain in 1981. From 1979 she directed multi-level photographic education projects, and in 1988 established the first Community Photographic Archive within the Dublin public library system. She has received assistance from both public and private sponsors in Ireland, the Czech Republic, Poland. and Austria. 
Her most recent exhibition, In Our Faces: Visual Assault in the Streets of Prague (Jako Facka: Vizualni Utok v Praskich Ulicich), together with a conference, was held at Prague City Hall and, due to nationwide and Internet media coverage, led to similar events in the Czech Senate and in Poland and Hungary, as well as serving as the central exhibition in an international group show in Austria.
Ms. Lazroe lectures. exhibits, and publishes throughout the Czech Republic and Europe.
